Tree-clinging Birds

This search function groups species by taxonomic family, listing all species in each of their families together with their relatives. Once a family is selected, you can order the species listed by first, last, or scientific name.
The woodpeckers, nuthatches, and creepers are usually seen climbing about on the trunks of trees, in search of insects hidden in the bark. Most of the woodpeckers are clad in black and white, although a few, like the Northern Flicker, are mainly brown. The nuthatches are soft gray above and whitish or rusty below, and the creepers are brown and streaked.
